A portable hard drive gives back up options for business

A portable hard driveJust the same as the hard drive on a laptop or desktop, a portable hard drive is just that – portable and small too. There are a number of options for portable drives – available from such sources as Astute Electronic Components if you use your drive to back up your valuable data:

  • Connection choices- data can be transferred from the laptop or desktop by USB cable. Some external portable hard drives are able to be connected to a router (either wireless or wired) so that more than one user in the office can use the drive. The network drives will then use an Ethernet cable to connect to the router.
  • Back-up software- if the major purpose of the portable hard drive is for data backup then having backup software is important- this will back up automatically and not depend on possibly fallible memories.
